The Air Force 1 first appeared in 1982 as a basketball shoe and was the first basketball sneaker to use Nike Air cushioning. It has since become one of the most recognisable everyday sneakers in streetwear. This Air Force 1 Low Retro is a Halloween-themed, New York-inspired release nicknamed the NYC Rat.
The Nike Air Force 1 Low NYC Rat mixes real and synthetic leather with faux fur accents to create a playful creature-inspired look in Baroque Brown, Black and Terra Red. Glow-in-the-dark eyes and a glow-in-the-dark outsole bring the Halloween theme to life after dark, while an NYC tongue label and plush laces finish the details. It uses the Retro fit, which looks slimmer than the standard Air Force 1, with a rounder toe, a curved heel tab and a longer tongue. Perforations at the toe add breathability, an Air unit in the foam midsole provides lightweight cushioning, and the rubber outsole keeps the classic pivot circles for grip. It is a fun collector's pair that works with relaxed denim or cargos in earthy tones. Every pair is checked for authenticity before it ships, and shipping is free on every NZ order.
