Nike Dunk Size Guide NZ: Do Dunks Run Big? (2026)

  • 6 min read

Nike Dunks fit true to size, so buy your usual Nike size in the Dunk Low, Dunk High and SB Dunk. If you have wide feet, go up half a size. SB Dunks have a thick padded tongue that makes them feel snugger, so go half a size up there if you like a roomier fit.

Do Nike Dunks run true to size?

Yes. Nike's own Dunk sizing guide says the Dunk runs true to size: if you wear a US 10 in other Nike shoes, a US 10 Dunk should fit well. The Sole Supplier, Laced, Stadium Goods and Foot Locker all give the same verdict for the Dunk Low.

So why do people search "do Dunks run big?" or "do Dunks run small?". New leather pairs can feel stiff for the first few wears, and Nike notes the leather softens and moulds to your foot over time. Foot Locker adds that leather may stretch a little while canvas pairs stay snug. Neither changes the length, so stick with your true size.

Nike Dunk sizing by foot type

Your foot or fit Size to buy in the Dunk Low
Narrow True to size; lace a little tighter
Regular True to size
Wide Half a size up
Want a roomy fit or thick socks Half a size up
Wear them loosely laced Half a size down

This table follows Nike's own fit tips. Nike says to go half a size up for wide feet or a roomier feel, stay true to size with normal lacing, and go half a size down only if you wear Dunks loosely laced and want less heel slip. Don't move more than half a size either way.

Dunk Low vs Dunk High vs SB Dunk sizing

  • Dunk Low: true to size, with plenty of room through the toe for most feet. Laced says your usual size gives enough room throughout. Examples: the Dunk Low Panda and Dunk Low Court Purple.
  • Dunk High: same length as the Low, so start at your true size. Foot Locker notes the High can feel a bit snug on broader feet and suggests half a size up for wide feet or a more relaxed fit. Laced also says some people go up for extra ankle room. See the Dunk High Light Chocolate.
  • SB Dunk Low and High: still designed to fit true to size, but the skate version adds a thick, puffy tongue and more padding in the collar. Sole Retriever and Stadium Goods both say that padding gives a snugger feel, and suggest half a size up if you're used to a regular Dunk or want more room. Laced warns against going more than half a size up, especially if you skate in them, because they can come loose. Sole Retriever also notes stiffer leather on some collaborations fits a little tighter than classic suede pairs. Examples: the SB Dunk Low J-Pack Chicago and the SB Dunk High Diamond Supply Co.
Model Regular feet Wide feet
Dunk Low True to size Half a size up
Dunk High True to size Half a size up
SB Dunk Low or High True to size (half up for a roomier feel) Half a size up

Nike Dunk vs Jordan 1, Jordan 4 and Air Force 1 sizing

Compare by US size, not UK, so the numbers line up across brands.

  • Jordan 1: Stadium Goods says the Dunk and Jordan 1 both run true to size, so most people wear the same size in each. See our Jordan 1 size guide.
  • Jordan 4: also true to size in length, but snugger and slightly narrower through the forefoot. Most people wear their Dunk size; wide feet may go half a size up in the Jordan 4 only. See our Jordan 4 size guide.
  • Air Force 1: runs big, and Nike recommends half a size down. Sole Retriever puts it simply: whatever size you wear in Dunks, your AF1 size is usually half a size smaller. Going the other way, if you sized down in AF1s, your Dunk size is half a size above your AF1 size. More in our Air Force 1 and Air Max size guide.

Women's Nike Dunk sizing

Women's Dunks, marked (W) in our listings, also fit true to size. The Sole Supplier says both men's and women's pairs fit true to size. Nike's men's and women's sizes sit exactly 1.5 apart: add 1.5 to a men's size to get the women's (a men's 8 is a women's 9.5), or subtract 1.5 to go from women's to men's.

That means women can wear men's or unisex pairs too. A women's 9 is a men's 7.5. Our (W) range includes the Dunk Low Panda (W) and the Dunk High Aluminum (W).

GS and PS Dunk sizing (kids)

Kids' Dunks fit true to size as well. GS (grade school) pairs run from 3.5Y to 7Y, and PS (pre-school) pairs cover the younger sizes, from 10.5C to 3Y on Nike's kids chart. A Y size is the same number as men's and 1.5 lower than women's, so women up to a US 8.5 can often wear GS pairs, such as the Dunk Low Black Panda 2.0 (GS) or Dunk High Championship Navy (GS).

GS (Y) US men's US women's UK EU
3.5Y 3.5 5 3 35.5
4Y 4 5.5 3.5 36
5Y 5 6.5 4.5 37.5
6Y 6 7.5 5.5 38.5
6.5Y 6.5 8 6 39
7Y 7 8.5 6 40

For growing feet, Nike's advice is to size up if a child falls between two sizes.

How to measure your foot

  1. Put a sheet of paper on a hard floor, against a wall.
  2. Stand on it with your heel against the wall and your weight even.
  3. Mark the tip of your longest toe and measure from the wall to the mark in centimetres.
  4. Repeat with the other foot and use the longer measurement.
  5. Match it to the chart above, then apply the Dunk advice for your foot type.

Measure later in the day, when your feet are at their largest, and wear the socks you plan to wear. If you land between two sizes, take the larger one.

Nike Dunk sizing FAQ

Do Dunks run big or small?

Neither. Nike says the Dunk runs true to size, so buy your usual Nike size. Leather pairs can feel stiff at first but soften with wear. If you have wide feet, go up half a size.

Should I size up in SB Dunks?

Only if you want more room. SB Dunks are designed to fit true to size, but the thick padded tongue and collar make them feel snugger than a regular Dunk, so many people go half a size up. Don't go more than half a size up.

Do Dunk Highs fit the same as Dunk Lows?

Yes, in length. Both fit true to size. The Dunk High can feel a little snug on broader feet, so wide-footed buyers often go half a size up in the High.

Are Dunks the same size as Air Force 1s?

No. Air Force 1s run big and Nike recommends half a size down, while Dunks are true to size. If you wear a US 10 in Dunks, you'll usually wear a US 9.5 in Air Force 1s.

How do I convert men's Dunk sizes to women's?

Add 1.5 to the men's size. A US men's 8 is a US women's 9.5. To go from women's to men's, subtract 1.5. GS sizes match men's, so a 7Y is a women's 8.5.
