Air Jordan Retro Size Guide NZ: Jordan 3, 5, 6, 11, 12 and 13 (2026)

  • 7 min read

Air Jordan 3, 5, 6, 11, 12 and 13 retros all fit true to size, so buy your usual Nike or Jordan size in every one of them. The differences are in width: the 11 and 12 feel snugger, so wide feet go half a size up, while the 6 is roomy, so narrow feet can go half a size down.

Do Jordan retros run true to size?

Yes. Sole Retriever's fit guides for the 3, 5, 6, 11, 12 and 13 each conclude the shoe fits true to size, and Hibbett's Air Jordan sizing guide agrees for the 3, 11, 12 and 13. Length is consistent across the range, so the size you wear in Jordan 1s or Jordan 4s is your starting point.

What changes from model to model is volume. Patent leather, ballistic mesh and thick padding make some retros feel tight across the midfoot, while others leave extra room around the toes. The quick answer for each model:

Model Narrow feet Regular feet Wide feet
Jordan 3 True to size True to size Half a size up
Jordan 5 True to size True to size Half a size up
Jordan 6 Half a size down, or true to size True to size True to size
Jordan 11 True to size True to size Half a size up
Jordan 12 True to size, or half a size down True to size Half a size up
Jordan 13 True to size True to size True to size; very wide feet half a size up

Jordan 3 sizing

Verdict: true to size. Sole Retriever, The Sole Supplier and Hibbett all say the Jordan 3 runs true to size, and Sole Retriever notes small differences between production years still land within your normal size. One wide-footed reviewer at The Sole Supplier finds the toe box a little narrow and sometimes goes half a size up, so do the same if your feet are wide. The Reimagined pairs, such as the Jordan 3 White Cement Reimagined, and the Jordan 3 Black Cement (2024) take the same size.

Jordan 5 sizing

Verdict: true to size; wide feet half a size up. Sole Retriever, Captain Creps and the five sneakerheads in Farfetch's Jordan 5 guide all wear their usual size. Captain Creps says wide-footed buyers report a snug midsection and suggests half a size up, and Sole Retriever recommends the same for quite wide feet. Hibbett is the outlier: it calls the 5 a wider fit and suggests narrow feet try half a size down. With conflicting advice, true to size is the safe pick. Examples: the Jordan 5 Grape (2025) and Jordan 5 Black Metallic Reimagined.

Jordan 6 sizing (including Travis Scott)

Verdict: true to size; narrow feet can go half a size down. Sole Retriever and The Sole Supplier both say the Jordan 6 fits true to size, but this is the roomiest retro here. In Farfetch's Jordan 6 guide, one expert says it fits about half a size big and others call it wide-foot friendly. Hibbett suggests half a size down unless your feet are wide. If you can't try a pair on, Sole Retriever's advice is to stick with your true size. Narrow feet that want a locked-in feel can drop half a size.

Travis Scott Jordan 6s: none of the guides we read covers the collaboration's fit specifically, so treat the Travis Scott x Jordan 6 Olive and British Khaki like any other Jordan 6 and buy your true size.

Jordan 11 sizing

Verdict: true to size; wide feet half a size up. Sole Retriever, The Sole Supplier and Captain Creps all say true to size, and The Sole Supplier's three reviewers advise against going up or down. Captain Creps notes the patent leather and ballistic mesh make the midfoot feel snugger than usual, so wide feet may want half a size up. Sole Retriever adds that high-tops hug the ankle and feel stiff at first but fit like a glove once broken in, while lows are more comfortable out of the box. Captain Creps' separate Jordan 11 Low guide says lows fit true to size with a roomy toe box, so even wide feet can usually stay in their normal size there. See the Jordan 11 Gamma Blue (2025) and Jordan 11 Low Bred (2025).

Jordan 12 sizing

Verdict: true to size; wide feet half a size up. Sole Retriever, Captain Creps and Hibbett all say true to size, and all three suggest half a size up for wide feet because the 12 can feel snug. Captain Creps says narrow feet can go half a size down for a closer fit, and that the leather loosens as you break the pair in. Examples: the Jordan 12 Flu Game (2025) and Jordan 12 Taxi (2025).

Jordan 13 sizing

Verdict: true to size. Sole Retriever, Captain Creps and Hibbett agree. On width they differ slightly: Sole Retriever calls the 13 a bit forgiving for wider feet, while Captain Creps says broad feet may feel snug at first before the leather moulds to the foot. Captain Creps also notes the 13 has a slightly roomier toe box than the 12. Stay true to size unless your feet are very wide. Examples: the Jordan 13 Court Purple and Jordan 13 Red Flint.

Jordan retros vs Jordan 1, Jordan 4 and Air Force 1

  • Jordan 1: true to size, so most people wear the same size in their Jordan 1s and every retro above. See the Jordan 1 size guide.
  • Jordan 4: true to size with a snug forefoot. If you sized up half in Jordan 4s for width, you'll likely want the same in the 11 and 12, but probably not the 6. See the Jordan 4 size guide.
  • Nike Air Force 1: runs big, and Nike recommends half a size down. If you sized down in AF1s, your Jordan retro size is half a size above your AF1 size.

Sole Retriever also says you can wear the same size in the Jordan 5 and Jordan 11.

Women's and GS Jordan sizing

Women's retros follow the same fit advice. Nike's men's and women's sizes sit exactly 1.5 apart: add 1.5 to a men's size to get the women's (men's 8 = women's 9.5). Women's pairs include the Jordan 5 Sunset (W) and Jordan 3 Fireside (W).

GS (grade school) sizes run from 3.5Y to 7Y. A Y size is the same number in men's and 1.5 lower than women's, so women up to a US 8.5 can wear GS pairs such as the Jordan 11 Gamma Blue (GS) and Jordan 3 Black Cat (GS).

GS (Y) US men's US women's
4Y 4 5.5
5Y 5 6.5
6Y 6 7.5
6.5Y 6.5 8
7Y 7 8.5

How to measure your foot

  1. Tape a sheet of paper to a hard floor against a wall.
  2. Stand on it with your heel against the wall and your weight even.
  3. Mark the tip of your longest toe and measure from the wall in centimetres.
  4. Repeat with the other foot and match the longer measurement to the chart above.

Measure later in the day, when your feet are at their largest. If you land between two sizes, take the larger one.

Air Jordan retro sizing FAQ

Do Jordan 11s run small?

No. Jordan 11s fit true to size in length, so buy your usual Nike size. The patent leather and ballistic mesh make the midfoot feel snug, so if you have wide feet go up half a size. Jordan 11 Lows are roomier and true to size for most feet.

Do Jordan 6s run big?

They run roomy rather than long. Most guides say the Jordan 6 fits true to size, but some reviewers find it about half a size big. Stay true to size unless you have narrow feet, in which case half a size down gives a closer fit.

Should I size up in Jordan 12s?

Only if you have wide feet. The Jordan 12 fits true to size but can feel snug, so wide feet should go up half a size. The leather loosens with wear, and narrow feet can stay true to size or go half a size down.

Are Jordan 3s the same size as Jordan 1s?

Yes. Both fit true to size, so most people wear the same size in each. If you have wide feet, the Jordan 3 toe box can feel a little narrow, so consider half a size up in the 3 only.

How do I convert men's Jordan sizes to women's?

Add 1.5 to the men's size. A US men's 8 is a US women's 9.5. GS sizes run to 7Y, which is a US women's 8.5 and a US men's 7.
