The Nike Air Max 97 was designed by Christian Tresser and released in 1997 with the first full-length visible Air unit. Its wavy lines and reflective details made it one of the most recognisable running shoes of the 90s.
The 2023 edition of the Nike Air Max 97 OG "Metallic Gold", known as the "Golden Bullet", released on 7 March 2023 and brings back an iconic colourway. A gilded finish covers the distinctive upper, which has a breathable mesh base with wavy reflective leather overlays inspired by water dropping into a pond. Underneath, a white polyurethane midsole houses a full-length Max Air unit that runs the length of the durable black rubber outsole. Varsity Red details add a small hit of contrast. The gold makes it a statement shoe, so keep the rest of the outfit simple: black trackpants, black denim or a plain white tee. Every pair is checked for authenticity before it ships, and shipping is free on every NZ order.
