Nike SB has released the AF-1 City Pack, a set of Air Force 1s dressed in shop-inspired colourways from three skate shops: Ben-G in Amsterdam, Instant Skateboards in Japan and Nocturnal in Philadelphia. It is the latest step in Nike SB's run of skate-ready Air Force 1s, following the SB AF-1 built with Yuto Horigome earlier this season.
In short
- Nike SB says the AF-1 City Pack is now available at select skate shops and on SNKRS in North America and Asia, with Europe following on 13 November.
- The three shop colourways are Ben-G's brown suede and Court Purple, Nocturnal's Cool Grey and Court Green, and Instant's black suede with Game Royal.
- No New Zealand release has been confirmed yet, so NZ dates are TBC.
A shop-first take on the Air Force 1
The idea behind the pack is simple: hand the Air Force 1 to the skate shops that hold their local scenes together and let each one set the colours. Nike SB describes the pack as built by the cities where crews connect. The shape takes its cue from the Air Force 1 "Color of the Month" releases of the 1980s, when the shoe came in a rotating run of two-tone colourways, so the colour blocking does the talking rather than extra overlays or graphics.
Each shop first released a limited version earlier in October, with its logo embroidered on the lateral heel. Ben-G's shop pair was limited to 300 units and launched in store in Amsterdam on 10 October, while Instant's launched in Japan on 9 October. The pairs now rolling out through Nike SB's wider skate shop network and SNKRS drop that shop logo but keep the colourways.
The three colourways
Ben-G (Amsterdam)
Ben-G's pair, listed as Light Chocolate/Court Purple-Sail (IV5289-200), is the warmest of the three. A brown suede upper sits on a Sail midsole, with Court Purple on the Swoosh, heel tab, tongue label and outsole. Purple and brown is a pairing Nike SB fans know well, and if you like the look, the Nike SB Dunk Low Court Purple works the same purple into a Dunk.
Nocturnal (Philadelphia)
Nocturnal's pair is listed as Cool Grey/Court Green-Black (IV6099-003). Grey suede covers the toe box, mudguard, quarters and heel, with green on the Swoosh and outsole and a black midsole sandwiched between them. A metal dubrae sits on the laces.
Instant Skateboards (Japan)
Instant's version pairs a black suede upper with a Game Royal Swoosh and a royal blue outsole on a white midsole. Reports list two different style codes for this pair, so we have marked it TBC until Nike confirms.
A fourth shop pair from Fly Streetwear in China has also been reported for later in the cycle. Details on that one are still TBC.
Sizing
If you're weighing up sizing, our Air Force 1 size guide covers how AF1s fit compared with Dunks and Jordans, and the Nike Dunk size guide is there if you're choosing between the two.
