The Air Jordan 5 was designed by Tinker Hatfield and first released in 1990. Inspired by WWII fighter planes, it introduced the shark-tooth midsole detail, reflective tongue and translucent outsole.
The 2025 Air Jordan 5 Retro "Fire Red" released on 13 September 2025, bringing back one of the original 1990 colourways. The white leather upper has quarter-panel netting and black TPU eyelets. A red Jumpman stands out on the black tongue, an embroidered "23" sits on the outer heel, and classic Nike Air branding appears on the back. A visible Air unit sits in the red polyurethane midsole, accented with black shark-tooth detailing, on a translucent rubber outsole. The leather upper is easy to wipe clean, and the red midsole makes it a bold OG pair that looks great with black or light denim and a simple white or black tee. Every pair is checked for authenticity before it ships, and shipping is free on every NZ order.
