Kobe Bryant's signature line with Nike, designed by Eric Avar, is known for low-cut basketball shoes built for speed and court feel. The Kobe 8 first released in 2013 as one of the lightest basketball shoes of its time, and the Protro (performance retro) versions bring it back with updated cushioning.
The Nike Kobe 8 Protro "Venice Beach" (2024) celebrates the vibrant culture of the Los Angeles neighbourhood. Splashes of red, teal and yellow liven up a seamless upper built from grey Engineered Mesh. More colour comes from a turquoise external heel counter and an orange textile collar lining. For performance, it uses a drop-in React foam midsole and a carbon fibre shank plate, while a semi-translucent rubber outsole has a herringbone pattern for traction. Light and breathable, it works on court or as a bright, summery everyday sneaker with shorts. Every pair is checked for authenticity before it ships, and shipping is free on every NZ order.
