Human Made x Pokémon in NZ: Inside Nigo's 'Pokémon Made' Collab

  • 4 min read

Human Made x Pokémon is Nigo's "Pokémon Made" collaboration with The Pokémon Company, and a run of pieces from it has just landed at Im Your Wardrobe. Human Made has no stores in New Zealand, so this is one of the few ways to get the Pikachu, Farfetch'd and Magikarp pieces here without importing them yourself.

Below is the story of the collab so far, a walk through the pieces we have in stock, and how the Japanese sizing works before you pick a size.

How Human Made x Pokémon started

Human Made is Nigo's Tokyo label, known for vintage-inspired workwear, graphic tees and its red heart logo. The first Human Made x Pokémon collection dropped on 11 October 2025 through Human Made's own stores and online shop. That debut leaned on Pikachu, Farfetch'd and Unown, with a Pikachu logo tee as the centrepiece.

The detail collectors still talk about is the store tees. The Pikachu heart tee came in separate versions for individual Human Made locations, including Harajuku, Shibuya Parco and the online store, each with its own heart colour. That idea of one graphic in several store-only versions is a big part of why the collab has a following well beyond Japan.

Round two: the 30th anniversary drop

The second "Pokémon Made" collection released on 23 May 2026 at 11am Japan time, through Human Made's website and stores across Japan, Seoul, Hong Kong and Bangkok. It ran to 15 pieces and was timed with Pokémon's 30th anniversary.

This time the cast was Pikachu, Farfetch'd and Magikarp. Farfetch'd is the clever pick: Human Made has used duck and bird graphics for years, so the leek-carrying duck fits the brand as naturally as Pikachu fits the Pokémon side. The drop also went further into proper outerwear, with a utility jacket, a padded blouson and a heavy denim jacket alongside the tees and aloha shirts.

Outerwear

The Pikachu Denim Jacket in Indigo is the hero piece: a 15oz denim trucker with "Pokémon Made" lettering and a sprinting Pikachu across the back. It is the kind of jacket that gets better with wear, so expect the indigo to fade in over time.

The Farfetch'd Utility Jacket in Beige is a multi-pocket field jacket with a rear pocket designed to hold a plush leek, a nod to the way Farfetch'd always carries one. The Farfetch'd Padded Blouson in Olive Drab takes the classic flight-jacket shape and puts a varsity-style "Human Made" arch with Farfetch'd on the back.

Shirts

The Magikarp aloha shirt is an open-collar camp shirt in a rayon-cotton blend, with two Magikarp on the chest whose whiskers curl into a heart. We have it in Navy and White. Worn open over a white tee, it is an easy summer piece.

Graphic tees

The numbered graphic tees are the simplest way into the collab: #1 Pikachu, #2 Farfetch'd and #3 Magikarp, each in black or white. There is also the Poké Ball tee with a heart-shaped Poké Ball.

For collectors, the store tees are the ones to look at. We have the Pikachu Harajuku tee, the Pikachu Shibuya Parco tee and the Pikachu Online Store tee, each the version sold through that one channel. See the full range in our Human Made collection.

How Human Made fits: size up

Human Made uses Japanese sizing, and it runs small compared with most Western brands. END. notes its tees are a smaller fit and suggests taking a size larger, and other sizing guides say the same for hoodies, shirts and jackets: the body is boxy but the length is on the short side.

A simple rule: go one size up from your usual tee size for a normal fit, and two sizes up if you want extra length or a relaxed, oversized look. For the denim jacket, think about what you will layer underneath. If you want a hoodie under it in winter, size up. If you are between sizes on the aloha shirt, size up so it hangs open and loose, the way camp shirts are meant to look.

How to wear it

The collab works best when one piece does the talking. Pair the Pikachu denim jacket with a plain white tee, relaxed chinos or straight-leg jeans and a clean pair of sneakers, and let the back graphic be the statement. The Farfetch'd utility jacket suits the same earthy palette as the beige jacket itself: olive, cream and brown. The graphic tees are the easy everyday option, under an overshirt or on their own with wide-leg pants.

If you are a Pokémon fan who also collects sealed cards, the collab sits neatly alongside a Japanese Pokémon booster box on the shelf. Our guide to Japanese Pokémon booster boxes in NZ covers the sets we stock.
